My phone rings just as I’m about to get into the shower. It’s a delivery from the post office. They’re right outside, with a package from the USA. That’s a surprise. A text from them a couple of days ago said it wouldn't get here until a week from Sunday. I quickly put some jeans on and head out. After a couple of steps I realize that I’m barefoot. So be it. I run carefully toward the street. Along the way, I remember that I’m in isolation, and I should get them to leave the package by my door. Explaining how to get to my door is difficult. I get to the gate and call out “Hello?” A man appears from behind a truck with a small package. He walks toward me. I reach out over the gate. He stretches his arm out and hands it to me. It’s a DVD player. It’s smaller than I expected. I take the package from him. Our hands don’t touch. I think for a moment of the Sistine Chapel, where God is shown reaching out to Adam. I imagine, though, that if Adam had been given a DVD player in Eden, he and Eve might not have been tempted by fruit. The snake would have brought them popcorn.
