On the night of the full moon, I sit on a bench on a city street, keeping my shot steady as people pass. Some look at me curiously. Most ignore me. A gimbal holds my phone, helping what it films to remain steady. A monopod beneath it keeps it at an even height. In front of me, more or less centered in the camera view, five traffic lights cycle through their patterns, about two minutes long. The moon appears steady in the sky above them, its diameter the same as those of the lights. Clouds pass in front of it. It isn't as clear as I'd like, but I can't control that. Lower in the frame, cars and motorcycles pass, straight across the horizontal on the street that crosses mine, on a diagonal here on the road where I sit. On the sidewalk, people stroll with or without families. All the adults are on foot, while many children are on bicycles, tricycles, skateboards, and roller skates. Dogs also pass, with people tethered to them. Cats wander about, rarely in straight lines. They glance at the cars, the people, the lights, and the moon, shrug, and carry on.
