From the way this guy is standing at the falafel joint, I can tell he's an American. He's leaning on the counter, his elbow jutting across it as if he owns everything, studiously looking away while glaring side-eye at the workers. They and the other customers have seen these aggressively casual antics before. When he finally takes his elbow down and stands like everyone else, they stop ignoring him. He says simply "Falafel." From his accent, I know I was right. The worker asks him in detail what he'd like on it. He clearly doesn't understand what's being said but tries to hide it by acting like he doesn't care. He pays with a large bill, again leaning on the register and waving it as he looks in another direction to show off how little money means to him. The worker takes it and puts too little change down on the counter. It takes the guy a moment to see the change. He scoops it up and stuffs it in his pocket. He appears not to realize that he's been stiffed. Everyone else does. Nobody says a thing.
