From a distance, the girl appears to be walking on prosthetics. As I get closer, I see that she is on roller skates, possibly for the first time. She clutches the arm of a grey-haired man who also holds her far shoulder as they proceed down the sidewalk. The girl's feet slide around, their motion only vaguely related to the path that the rest of her body is taking. A woman on an electric scooter whips past them. She crouches, tilts, and stands as if she were surfing a massive wave on the level ground. A man runs by in the other direction, waving wildly at a bus that is pulling away. The bus slows but doesn't stop. The driver points to another, far less crowded bus from the same line that is pulling up behind him.
