She had a hard life at home, back on her island. She couldn't break up her family, but couldn't stay. She left her children with their grandparents and found work and refuge here, caring for us at the House of a Hundred Grandmothers. Someday, she'll go back again. She wants to build herself a new home. And she says that when she does, there will be a big Star of David in the front window, just like our flag, to remind her of the love and comfort she has found here.
