In the Democracy Pavilion, I watch a multimedia presentation in English, alone. A worker comes in partway through. She asks if she might stop and restart the show. A large group of touring nurses has suddenly shown up and wants to see it. It's blisteringly hot outside where they would have to wait. I immediately agree that they should come in. I'm in no hurry. They enter, and their leaders thank me so much that I'm embarrassed. The worker starts the program again, this time in Hebrew. It's well made, showing the divisions and stresses within Israeli society throughout the nation's brief history, without sugar-coating. The nurses thank me again when they leave. The worker asks me if I'd like to see it from the start again, in English. I do. There's so much information in it that once isn't enough.
