The bus may have skipped the train station. Or maybe I just didn't notice it. There's a lot of noise going on at once: the radio blaring some sort of argument, the driver talking on his phone, the stop announcements, two groups of teenagers having unrelated conversations, and various flashing marquees and billboards outside. It never quite turns into simple static. Instead, streams of words and images, remaining distinct, compete for attention. Words in Hebrew mostly shoot past, but the frequent bits of English in the signs and voices jump out as if illuminated. I'm not headed to the train station, and it doesn't really matter to me if we were there or not. But not having seen it is an even more disorienting surprise.
