A memorial at the site of the assassination shows once-flat stones in upheaval. The guide says that this shows the way that society was shattered by the event. One wall has graffiti from the aftermath. More walls once did. The guide says that they had meant to preserve the markings, but the art was painted over by mistake. As I look more closely, I see that one word looms above the rest: "We're sorry." The square is now named for the fallen leader, so that people remember him when saying the name.
