Unused to walking upright, the baby wobbles forward and bumps into the storefront window. She falls, sits up, and laughs. Two large dogs walk up and sit next to her, one on each side. The shopkeeper kneels inside the window and waves. She waves back. Behind her, a boy kicks a kiwi, fallen from a fruit stand, along the sidewalk, abandoning it when it breaks.
